Please join us for the annual Christopher Newport University Harp Festival – a fantastic opportunity for harpists of all styles and levels to learn, experience and collaborate with some of the finest harpists of our generation.

All participants will attend workshops featuring:

  • Charles Overton, jazz harpist
  • Barbara Chapman, principal harpist with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra
  • Venezuelan harpist Angel Tolosa
  • Paul McLendon, MD, Riverside Performing Arts Medicine Program
  • Liza Jensen, principal international technician, CAMAC Harps
  • Anastasia Pike, CNU professor of harp

Events include a laser harp demonstration and harp circle with a specially commissioned piece for this year's festival. The participation fee of $35* includes admission to all events, exclusive vendor shopping provided by the Virginia Harp Center, Marini Made Harps and a buffet lunch. There is a $10 observation rate for those who wish to watch the masterclasses and demonstrations without participating. This does not include lunch or swag.  

New This Year

This year, we are pleased to announce a competition for high school students in grades 9-12. Winners will receive cash prizes and award certificates, as well as the opportunity to perform in the closing recital.  Selections should not exceed 10 minutes and do not need to be memorized. Three professional musicians will serve as judges. The deadline to register is March 10.
