Scholarships

The Army offers several competitive, merit-based scholarships that include the following components:

  • Two-, three-, and four-year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree
  • Full tuition and mandatory fees
  • The option to use scholarship funding for room and board instead of tuition, if qualified
  • Monthly stipend ($420 for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. The stipend is also available to contracted, non-scholarship cadets)
  • $600 book allowance per semester

There are three ways to earn an Army ROTC scholarship:

  • Three- or Four-year Advanced Designee National Scholarship
Students apply during their senior year of high school. The scholarship window opens annually June 12.

  • CNU Commitment to Service Scholarship:
Eligible national scholarship winners will receive full room and board for the duration of the scholarship.

  • Campus-based Scholarship
Students apply after enrolling at Christopher Newport.

Cadets who choose the reserves or National Guard duty are eligible for a Guaranteed Reserve Duty Forces Scholarship/Contract.

Enlisted military personnel who wish to become officers can also earn scholarships through the Army’s Green to Gold Program.

Veterans can use the GI Bill at CNU.
