Beyond the Classroom
In addition to the comprehensive, hands-on experience in stagecraft that all majors enjoy, students also have the opportunity to join faculty on study abroad trips to theatre focal points like London and Edinburgh. Faculty also organize and lead trips to destinations closer to home, like New York and Washington, D.C., as well as regional conferences, creating opportunities for you to audition, interview, network and present your undergraduate research to your peers.
Theatre majors also embark on rewarding apprenticeships and internships with theatres and companies across the U.S., such as the Barrington Stage Company in Massachusetts, Connecticut Repertory Theatre, California's South Coast Repertory and more! These experiences give you the chance to put into practice what you’ve learned and prepare you for success after graduation.
Riverside Performing Arts Medicine
In collaboration with nearby Riverside Hospital, we regularly bring medical professionals to campus to work with students on a variety of topics, such as vocal health, performance anxiety management and vocal production for actors. These experts can help you learn best practices and healthy behaviors that will last a lifetime.
You can also participate in observation opportunities throughout the Riverside Health System, and showcase your talents by entertaining patients and their families at various Riverside facilities.
CNU’s chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, the national theatre honor society, offers further educational opportunities outside class and recognizes student achievement.
