Admitted Students

For questions regarding the Admitted Student System, please contact Orientation at (757) 594–7767 or

Your first step toward enrolling at Christopher Newport is to log in to the Admitted Student System and complete the items below:

  • Reserve your space by paying the $500 enrollment deposit and register for orientation.
    • Deadlines: Early Decision — January 31; Early Action and Regular Decision — May 1)
    • The enrollment deposit is mandatory for all incoming freshmen, and is non-refundable. In addition to confirming your decision to join Christopher Newport and reserving your spot in the incoming class, the enrollment deposit covers orientation and welcome week expenses and serves as your housing deposit.
    • You should pay your enrollment deposit by credit card through the Admitted Student System. Remember — your admission offer is only guaranteed until the deposit deadline. Students who request to submit a deposit late historically are placed on a wait list.
  • Build your academic profile.
  • Set your academic interest and Learning Community preferences (available in February).
  • Complete your housing contract and choose a meal plan (available in March).
    • All new students are required to live on campus their freshman, sophomore and junior years unless they reside with a parent or legal guardian in Grafton, Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Tabb, Seaford or Yorktown.
  • Review the financial aid module and indicate whether or not you have applied, or plan to apply for financial aid for the upcoming school year.

In addition to completing the above items in the Admitted Student System, please be sure to:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the March 1 priority filing deadline (if you wish to be considered for financial aid).
  • Register for Admitted Freshman Day.
  • Send your final official high school transcript to the Office of Admission by July 1.
  • Send your final official transcript from your dual enrollment institution and/or your exam scores from the testing agency to the Office of the Registrar to earn dual enrollment credits from high school or credits from AP/IB/Cambridge exams (if applicable).
  • Complete the immunization form by July 1.
  • Review Information Technology Services computer recommendations.
  • Join your CNU class page and follow CNU Orientation on Facebook for updates.

Please note that your offer of admission can be withdrawn under the following conditions:

  • Your final grades are significantly lower than your previous academic record, indicating a declining academic performance in your final year or semester.
  • Your final transcript reveals that you have failed to complete the university’s minimum requirements for admission.
  • Your final transcript is not received by the Office of Admission as directed above.
  • Information about a school-related behavioral issue or criminal incident is deemed unbecoming of a Christopher Newport student.
