Graduate

Congratulations on your acceptance!

Christopher Newport’s graduate programs offer opportunities to participate in regionally and nationally recognized research programs as well as small classes with personal attention.

View the graduate student checklist to get started on your next steps.

To help you get started, here are a few items you need to know and/or complete:

  • Find your way around.
If you are new to the campus and would like to arrange a tour, please contact the Office of Admission.
  • Get connected.
Once you are admitted, your student ID and email address automatically will be generated. You will receive this information by email after you confirm that you accept your admission.
  • Get your Captain’s Card.
Your Captain’s Card is your student ID and lifeline to campus. You’ll use it to access your meal plan and Captain’s Cash account. It also is used in the Trible Library, to enter the Freeman Center or check out game-room equipment in the David Student Union.
  • Buy a parking decal.
Pick up your decal at Parking and Transportation Services in the parking garage of the Ferguson Center for the Arts. CNU is a decal-enforced campus.
  • Pay your tuition and fees.
For information regarding tuition and fees and corresponding payment due dates and payment options, please contact the Business Office.
  • Apply for financial aid
To apply for need-based financial aid you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. Our priority deadline to receive your FAFSA information is March 1. Christopher Newport’s school code is 003706.
  • Contact your graduate adviser or program coordinator.
Your adviser or program coordinator is listed in your letter of admission, and can help you prepare for registration.
  • Get a Graduate Catalog
The Graduate Catalog is available online. Student handbooks are also available.
  • Register for classes
Detailed information regarding registration dates, how to register for classes and the classes available each semester is listed on the Office of the Registrar’s website.
