To help you get started, here are a few items you need to know and/or complete if you haven't done so already:

  • Tell us you're coming » Complete your Plan to Attend card enclosed in your acceptance letter indicating whether you will or will not be attending CNU. Mail it to the following address: Office of the Registrar, ATTN: Transfer Enrollment, 1 Avenue of the Arts, Newport News, VA  23606

  • Get connected » Once you confirm that you will be attending CNU, your student ID and email address will be automatically generated. This information will be provided to you within your Welcome packet which will be mailed to you once you accept our offer. Activate your CNU email address which will also be enclosed in your Welcome packet.

  • Attend Changing Tides » Changing Tides orientation program is designed specifically with the needs of transfer students in mind. Whether you are transferring from a two-year or four-year college or university, you will get the information you need that is essential to making your CNU experience a success.

  • Get your Captain's Card » Your Captain's Card is your lifeline to campus and CNU ID card. You'll use it to access your meal plan or Captain’s Cash account and to check out game-room equipment or Student Club office keys in the David Student Union.

  • Apply for housing » Complete your Upper Class Contract Acceptance and submit your $250 deposit (deadline: fall semester — May 1; spring semester — Dec. 1).
    Note: Housing is on a first come first serve basis for all incoming transfer students.

  • Send in final transcripts » All final official college transcripts and high school transcripts must be sent to the Office of the Registrar. Transcripts must be received by June 1 for the fall semester and January 4 for the spring semester.
  • Pick up a parking decal » Pick up your decal at the Parking Office located in the parking garage of the Ferguson Center for the Arts. We are a decal-enforced campus.

  • Pay your tuition and fees » For information regarding tuition and fees and corresponding payment due dates and payment options, please consult the Business Office online.

  • Apply for financial aid » Apply for need-based financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. Our priority deadline to receive your FAFSA information is March 1. CNU’s school code is 003706.

  • Submit your immunization records » Complete and turn in your immunization records to the Office of the Registrar before the start of classes.
