How do I accept CNU's offer of admission?
Complete your Plan to Attend card enclosed in your acceptance letter indicating whether you will or will not be attending CNU. Mail it to the following address: Office of the Registrar, 1 Avenue of the Arts, Newport News, VA 23606 ATTN: Transfer Enrollment
All final official college transcripts and high school transcripts must be sent to the Office of the Registrar. Transcripts must be received by June 1 for the fall semester and January 4 for the spring semester.
What is Changing Tides?
Changing Tides is a program specific for transfer students and their families. It is designed for you to connect with other students, learn more about academic and campus life, and explore campus resources. We have programs in August and in January.
Do I need to attend Changing Tides?
Yes. CNU values your success over the next few years and want you to be aware of our expectations and resources we have to support you. If you are unable to attend then you must contact the Dean of Students Office at email@example.com.
You must complete all questions in the Residency and Parent/Legal Guardian Residency sections of the Common Application if you are claiming entitlement to in-state tuition privileges. Supporting documents may be requested and must be received on or before the first day of the semester or term for which you are applying if you wish to be considered for in-state status. How do I find out about scholarships and other financial aid?
Scholarships are available through private donors or agencies. Available private scholarships are based on either financial need or academic achievement. All scholarships which include need as a component are awarded by the Office of Financial Aid. To be considered for any need-based scholarship, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Does CNU offer a monthly tuition payment plan?
There is a monthly tuition payment plan here at CNU. This plan allows you to pay your annual tuition and fees in 10 equal monthly installments. Learn more >>>
Who do I contact about the Virginia Prepaid Tuition Program (VPEP)?
The Office of Student Accounts can assist you. You may reach them by phone at (757) 594-7582. If you have questions regarding your VPEP or VEST account, please call VPEP directly at (888) 567-0540.
When will I be issued my student ID number, ID card and have access to email?
Once you confirm that you will be attending CNU, your student ID and email address will be automatically generated. This information will be provided to you within your Welcome packet which will be mailed to you once you accept our offer. Activate your CNU email address which will also be enclosed in your Welcome packet.
What type of campus security is offered at CNU?
CNU has a highly trained police force that is certified through the Police Academy and Virginia Department of Criminal Services and is augmented with security personnel and police aides.
How does CNU let students know if there is an emergency on campus?
The University has a dedicated emergency web site cnualert.info that gives up-to-date information and instructions in case of an emergency. You can sign up to receive text messages and emails when an emergency situation occurs.
As a full- or part-time student, you receive educational discounts through special pricing on Macs, Apple software and selected third party software. There will be an Apple representative on site to answer any questions about Apple machines. You will be able to purchase or order the computer you will need. Should I purchase a notebook or desktop computer?
There is no university preference, and it is a matter of personal choice. If you choose to bring a laptop, classrooms are wired for use and students regularly use laptops in class.
