When do I meet my advisor?
You will meet with your core advisor during Welcome Week - first as a group of 20, then, later in the week, individually. Advisors will have access to student records by August 13 so you can discuss specifics of your schedule then.
I need to change my schedule. When/where can I do that?
You can change your schedule when you meet with your core advisor during Welcome Week and during the add/drop period the first week of classes.
How do I learn which textbooks I need to purchase?
- Go to cnu.edu.
- Click CNU Connect at the top of the page.
- Enter your username (CNU ID number) and password (provided with your class schedule).
- Reset your password. Use this new password whenever you are required to sign in with your CNU ID
- In the blue bar, click CNU Live.
- If prompted to log in again, use the same username and password as in step 3.
- Click Student Services and Financial Aid.
- Click Registration.
- Disable your browser’s pop-up blocker.
- Click Find Textbooks. Ensure the drop-down menu reads “Fall Semester 2012.”
- Click Submit.
- Click Find Textbooks. An additional window will open listing all textbooks required and recommended by your instructors.

What if there are no required books for my class(es)?
If no books appear on your required/recommended textbook page in CNU Live, it is possible that the instructor hasn't updated the required textbook list. You can either email the instructor or wait until the first day of class. The syllabus will note any required reading materials.
Are there recommendations for finding cheaper textbooks from other sources?
Textbooks may be cheaper if purchased from an online retailer like Amazon. There are also textbook rental services, such as chegg.com. Some faculty members place course materials on reserve at Trible Library. It may also be possible to share books with others in your learning community. Some books, such as lab manuals, are specific to CNU courses; you must purchase these from the CNU online textbook store.
Did CNU receive my final high school transcript?
Students from whom we have not received a final high school transcript will be notified by U.S. mail and email. Failure to supply a final high school transcript may result in a rescinding of the original admission offer.
Will I receive college credit for AP / IB / Cambridge / dual-enrollment credits from high school?
Credits for Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, University of Cambridge units and dual-enrollment courses are welcome at CNU. College credit may be granted for scores of 3 or better on AP exams, 4 or 5 on higher-level IB exams, A or AS-level Cambridge exams, and qualifying grades on courses for dual enrollment. We are currently processing scores and all scores will be available by Welcome Week.
Can I get a refund of my enrollment deposit?
No refunds will be issued after June 30.

Can freshmen have cars on campus?
Freshmen are permitted to have cars on campus. The fee for a 2012-13 parking decal is $250. Please contact Parking and Transportation Services for more information.
When will I be issued my student ID number, ID card and have access to email?
Freshman will receive their Captains Card on Move-In Day in August. Access to email and other Web-based services is issued during Setting Sail, the two-day summer orientation program.
When will I receive my housing and roommate assignment?
You will be notified of your residence hall and roommate assignment in early August.
What should I bring to campus with me?
The folks in Residence Life have put together a list of "bring and don't bring." Take a look!
What type of campus security is offered at CNU?
CNU has a highly trained police force that is certified through the Police Academy and Virginia Department of Criminal Services and is augmented with security personnel and police aides.
Does CNU have an emergency communication system?
The University has a dedicated emergency website, cnualert.info, that gives up-to-date information and instructions during an emergency. Sign up now to receive text and email messages in the event of an emergency.
How do I report troubles with my fixtures, plumbing, and lighting or communication equipment in my room?
All work order requests should be reported through the ITS HelpDesk at support.cnu.edu. Click Submit a Request, then select Housing from the Request Details drop-down menu for plumbing, lighting or other fixtures. Select IT Services - Student for Internet and cable. Emergencies, as defined in the Residence Life Handbook, should be telephoned to your front desk.
