How Do I Get A Captains Card?

  • Freshman will receive their Captains Card on Move In day in August.
  • Transfer students will receive their Captains Card during Changing Tides orientation.
  • If you do not attend Setting Sail or Changing Tides, please bring a valid photo ID, i.e. driver’s license, military ID or passport AND a class schedule or admission letter to the David Student Union (DSU) Welcome Desk.
  • For your Captains Card photo, you must have a straight face or simple smile. Head coverings and / or sunglasses are not permitted.

Replacement Captains Cards
If you lose your Captains Card, report it lost or stolen immediately. Here's how:

  • Login to CNU Connect.
  • In the top right of the blue banner, click "Captains Card."
  • In the upper left corner, click "My Accounts."
  • Click "Suspend Card."
  • Click the "Suspend Card" button.

This will freeze your Captains Card account so it can not be used. If your card is recovered, please come by the DSU Welcome Desk or the Captains Card Office (DSU 380) to have it re-activated. Note: We can only re-activate a current card. If you had a previous Captains Card that was lost or stolen, we can not reactivate that card. Also, we can NOT re-activate your account over the telephone nor through email. It can only be done in person at the DSU Welcome Desk.

Lost or damaged cards will be replaced at the DSU Welcome Desk:

  • Please bring a valid photo ID, i.e. driver’s license, military ID or passport.
  • Students must pay for a replacement card. The Fee Schedule is as follows:
    • Resident: turns in old- $15, does not turn in- $25
    • Non-Resident: turns in old- $5, does not turn in- $15
  • If your Captains Card is stolen, replacement cost is free with a copy of a police report or a case number.

How Do I Get A Captains Card?
  • Faculty and staff must have a valid CNU email account before applying for a Captains Card. If you do not have a valid CNU email account, please contact I.T. Services at (757) 594-7180.

Participating off-campus vendors may stop accepting the Captains Card as payment without prior notice and may, at times, experience technical difficulties with their system. Always make sure the vendor's system is functioning properly prior to ordering. You may also email us at captainscard@cnu.edu with any questions or concerns.

In addition to the valuable merchants below, your Captains Card is now accepted at the 7-11 in the Village, in Port Warwick and on the corner of Minton Drive and Warwick Blvd., and Andy's Pizza on the corner of Oyster Point Road and Warwick Blvd.
