Support - The Center for American Studies - Christopher Newport University

Support

To achieve our mission of providing intensive programming in American civics and national security, we need a steady stream of financial resources. Our annual operating budget requires $90,000 annual base funding and a $1.8 million endowment to sustain financial stability.

All contributions are tax deductible.

Post Doctoral Fellows

Postdoctoral fellows are crucial to our success, through teaching and conducting research in the field. We must set aside $50,000 a year per postdoctoral fellow.

Conferences, Speakers and Events

We dedicate $50,000 per year toward innovative programming. We hold three annual conferences, as well as many speakers throughout the year. These conferences allow students to gain higher knowledge and understanding in the field, and aid students in networking and internship placement.

Summer Teacher Re-certification Workshop

This workshop helps middle and high school social studies teachers develop new ways to incorporate proper understanding of America’s founding principles, history and capitalist system into their curricula. We are working to raise $15,000 annually for three years (totaling $45,000) to support this program.

Junior Fellowships

Junior fellowships provide students with an internship internal at the CAS. Junior fellows undertake original research in conjunction with a CAS faculty member, present research at academic conferences and provide programming assistance. We are working to raise $20,000 annually to support this program.

You can support the CAS by check or by giving online (all major credit cards). Thank you!
