Senior Thesis Art Exhibit

All Day (scheduled through May 12)
Falk Gallery & Ferguson Hall Gallery, Ferguson Center

Highlighting the talent of the ArtCNU senior class, the exhibition will include painting, sculpture, ceramics and photography by the department’s most promising and gifted students.

President’s Leadership Program (PLP) Senior Celebration & Reception

7 p.m.
Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center
Attire: business
By invitation only

PLP graduates and their families will be invited to take part in this ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2017. We will remember the past as we celebrate those who made a difference along the way!

Friday, May 12

ROTC Commissioning

8 a.m.
Ballroom, David Student Union
By invitation only

In this private ceremony, family members will witness ROTC graduates take their oath to defend and serve our country as commissioned officers in the armed services. These graduates will also be sworn in before the university community during Saturday’s graduation ceremony.

Departmental Receptions

11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Graduates are encouraged to check with their respective departments for the location and time of their reception.

Convocation for the Conferring of Honors & Awards

6:30 p.m.
Diamonstein Concert Hall, Ferguson Center
Attire: business/academic regalia
By invitation only

Graduates who have earned Latin honors, faculty promoted in academic rank or awarded tenure, and all faculty awarded emeritus status during the 2016-17 academic year will be honored in this special ceremony. Honors recipients, their families and friends are invited. Latin honors recipients will be notified through their CNU email on Wednesday, May 10.

Candlelight Ceremony

8:30 p.m.
Great Lawn
Attire: dressy casual

In honor of the graduating Class of 2017, CNU will hold a candlelight ceremony at sunset on the eve of Commencement as we commemorate the transition of our graduates to university alumni. This special event will also honor the accomplishments of our graduate students and the Class of 1967 as they celebrate their 50th reunion. Graduates are asked to wear white to this event.

Saturday, May 13

Baccalaureate Service

8 a.m.
Pope Chapel

Baccalaureate provides an occasion to give thanks and celebrate the completion of the academic journey. Candidates for graduation and their families and friends are invited to attend. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. Program begins promptly at 8 a.m. Seating is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Degree Candidate Assembly

8:45 a.m.
Field House, The Freeman Center

Degree candidates should assemble in The Freeman Center, in cap and gown. Candidates who have retained their Academic Convocation penny are reminded to bring it to The Freeman Center. As candidates process to the Great Lawn, they will continue the CNU tradition of tossing their penny in the fountain. Pennies will be provided for graduates who need them.

Commencement Exercises

10 a.m.
The Great Lawn
(Guests should be seated by 9:45 a.m., please)

Commencement will begin promptly at 10 a.m. The processional begins the formal ceremony, followed by the conferring of degrees upon undergraduate and graduate students. The ceremony lasts approximately two hours.

Bell Ringing

Immediately following Commencement Until 2 p.m.
Bell Tower, Hoinkes Plaza

Immediately following the recessional and faculty gauntlet, each student will have the opportunity to ring the bell to celebrate this momentous occasion.
