Welcome to the English Department

Three English Department Faculty win Scholarship, Service and Teaching Awards for work in 2013.

The English Department has 18 full-time professors with doctorates from schools such as Indiana University, the University of California, the University of Chicago and UNC Chapel Hill. More than 200 majors pursue their interests in American, British and world literatures, as well as journalism, business, creative writing, film studies and language arts.
You can focus your studies in literature, writing, language and teacher preparation.
You can prepare for graduate school with course work and advice from faculty. Or you can prepare for a career in writing—journalism, technical writing, public relations—in a professional writing internship.
Let us know if we can answer your questions about our majors, minors and concentrations!
