Get fit and healthy and make new friends in our group exercise classes!

Zumba® ... Yoga Flow ... Cycling ... Body Sculpt ...Cardio Kick and Punch ... and more!  We offer group exercise classes for everyBODY, so come join the fun! 

Classes will begin Monday, January 21 and will end Friday, April 12 (skip March 4 - 8 for Spring Break).  All classes are held in the Trieshmann Health and Fitness Pavilion, multipurpose rooms (MPR) #1 and #2. (See Schedule tabs above.)  

Group Ex Kickoff Week

During the first week, January 21 - 25, classes are FREE!  A fitness pass is not required, so come try the classes out! It's a great opportunity to try new fitness programs and meet new people!  Be sure to arrive early because space is limited. 

Fitness Pass
The Fitness Pass allows you access to ALL the classes on the fitness schedule for the entire Fall semester!   Simply purchase your fitness pass and bring it with you to the class(es) you plan to attend.  The pass is $35 and may be purchased from the Trieshmann Health and Fitness Pavilion Welcome Desk. Payment may be made with Captains Cash, cash, check, MasterCard or VISA. If you decide not to purchase a pass, you are welcome to "drop in" on any class for a $5 fee. 

Classes begin January 21!  The class day(s)/time(s), location and instructor may be viewed on the "Schedule - MPR 1" and "Schedule - MPR 2" tabs above. 

ABS: Abs, back and stretch. A concentrated toning class for the abs and back, followed by a stretch. 

Body Sculpt: Total body toning utilizing hand weights, barbells/body bars, stability balls and more! Followed by a relaxing stretch.

Cardio Pump:  An energetic cardio and strength-training class.  Simple yet effective exercises (no tricky choreography) that will include punches and kicks, plyometrics, and sports drills.  Sculpt your muscles with dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, resistance bands and more!  Burn calories in a focused, efficient and challenging way!

Cycling: A fun and challenging way to exercise on a stationary bike! Features varying speeds and intensities. Ends with a cool down and stretch. Reservations are required (except during the Fitness Kickoff week when it is first-come, first-served). Call Trieshmann Health and Fitness Pavilion Welcome Desk at (757) 594-7980 the day of class to reserve your spot. 

Friday Fitness Free-for-All: Celebrate the weekend by coming to fun, energizing fitness classes! A different class will be offered each week. Email announcements will be sent each week describing the class to be offered. A fitness class pass is not required, but you must be a CNU student, faculty, staff or Freeman Center member to attend. 

Legs Xpress: (formerly BLT) Buttocks, legs and thighs. A lower body toning workout with various resistance equipment (hand weights, barbells/body bars, resistance bands and stability balls).

Pilates: (pronounced pul-LAH-teez) A series of strengthening and stretching exercises designed to improve muscle strength, posture, flexibility and balance.

NEW!  Rise and Shine Yoga:  Stretch out sleepy stiffness in this gentle yoga class.  Guided stretches will focus on slowing waking each muscle and opening the heart to new energy with deep breathing.  A final deep relaxation will give you those "10 more minutes" you wanted in bed without the drowsiness afterward.  This class will prepare you for the day, shedding away tired rigidity in the muscles and waking the mind with vitalizing breath.

Yoga Flow: Flow from one yoga pose to the other for a total body sculpting and stretching workout. 

NEW!  Yoga and Meditation:  Soothing movements designed to leave you feeling brand new.  This class also includes mindful meditations that reduce stress and improve concentration.

Yoga Retreat:  Revitalize mind and body with gentle stretches and peaceful instrumentals.  This gentle class will focus on clearing stress from the muscles and the mind while working to reduce your midday mid-back slump.  Participants will be invited to stay 15 minutes after the end of class for optional deep relaxation.

Zumba®: Dance your way to fitness! Fusing Latin-inspired and other easy-to-follow movements, Zumba is a fun way to get fit! 

 

Fitness Free-for-All
Celebrate the weekend early by attending a FREE Fitness Class open to ALL CNU students, faculty and staff! A fitness class pass is not required. A different class will be offered each Friday (e.g., yoga, Zumba®, kickboxing, Body Sculpt, cycling and others) and will be announced via campus email.  This site will also be updated each week.  All fitness levels are welcome.

Disney Yoga

Coming to The Freeman Center Multipurpose Room 2 this Friday, a yoga class like no other!  Escape with your favorite Disney songs in this this theme class featuring The Lion King, Mulan, Pocahontas, Lilo and Stitch, and other favorites!  Meditate on inspirational Disney quotes and find hakuna matata with a Disney-theme relaxation.  Disney attire is encouraged (providing it follows Freeman Center policy) as is singing along.
