How Do I Register or Join a Team?
Complete the registration form and turn it into The Freeman Center Welcome Desk along with the $10 entry fee (payable with cash, Captains cash, check, or credit card).  You may sign up with a friend or request The Freeman Center to assign you to a team.  Just let us know what you prefer!

What Do I Have to Do During the Program?
Exercise, exercise, exercise!  Within reason, of course.  A set amount of points will be awarded each week for various "test zones" and activities.  You can also earn bonus points to maximize your chance of winning!

Do I Have to Work Out in The Freeman Center?
Yes. We want you to exercise in a safe environment with trained staff on hand to help should you find the need.

 How Do I Track My Points?
Record your activities on the testing card provided to you when you register.  Extra copies will be made available throughout the challenge.  Submit your workout log each week by Monday before 11 p.m.  The points will be tallied on a weekly basis.  Points will be recorded for individuals, but the total points earned by the team will determine the winning team.

To ensure consistency and fairness to all participants, you will only earn points for doing activities defined here.

What Do the Winners Get?

  • 1st place team:  $100 ($50 per person)
  • 2nd place team:  $50 ($25 per person)
  • 3rd place team:  $30 ($15 per person)

The first 50 participants to register will receive a FREE t-shirt!

How Will the Winners Be Announced?
A weekly, updated list of teams and their earned points will be e-mailed to Fit Factor Participants and will also be posted on the main bulletin board  in the Trieshmann Health and Fitness Pavilion.

How Do I Earn Points?

  • Test Zone:  Cardio 
    • Only 25 points per week max may be earned for cardio training.  
      • Equipment or sports:  1 session for 60 minutes (5 points each)
      • In the Zone:  1 session for 30 minutes in your target heart rate zone (5 points each)
      • Participation in a cardio fitness class (refer to fitness class points)
  • Test Zone:  Resistance Training
  • Test Zone:  Flexibility 
    • Only 21 points per week max may be earned for flexibility training.

* Note: You must have a fitness class pass to participate in a fitness class. A pass may be purchased at The Freeman Center Welcome Desk for $35 (Captain's Cash, cash, check, MasterCard or VISA). Instead of purchasing a fitness class pass, however, you may also "drop-in" a class for $5.

How Can I Earn Bonus Points?

  • Fitness Assessment:  Schedule a fitness assessment appointment.  Have your cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle endurance, flexibility and body composition measured. Contact Lisa Wingfield, Trieshmann Health and Fitness Pavilion Director, to receive further instructions. This may only be done 1 time during the challenge to qualify for points.  A medical history and wellness/lifestyle form must be completed prior to scheduling the appointment.  (10 points)
  • Record a 7-day food diary and analyze it utilizing.  Instructions will be provided in the registration packet.  This may only be done 1 time during the challenge to qualify for points.  (15 points) 
  • Complete the "Workout of the Week."  This will be sent to participants on a weekly basis.  (5 points each)
  • Attend designated fitness classes/seminars to announced weekly (5 points each).

How Can I Lose Points?

  • Turn in the weekly log sheet AFTER the deadline of Monday at 11 p.m. (-5 points)
  • Turning in an incomplete weekly log sheet (-10 points)
  • Failure to abide by The Freeman Center policies and procedures (-25 points)
  • Failure to abide by the CNU Honor code (dismissal from the Fitness Challenge with no refund and referral to the Center for Community Honor and Enrichment)

  • Salsa Tone Xpress (1 cardio, 1 resistance, 1 flexibility)
  • Tabata (5 cardio)
  • Yoga Flow (6 flexibility points)
  • Yogilates (3 resistance, 2 flexibility)
  • Zumba (5 cardio points)
