Scholarship Support

Scholarship Support

Students come first at CNU, and attracting the best and brightest minds requires competitive scholarships so every student hoping to attend here has the financial ability to do so. That’s why we made scholarships the top priority of our Defining Significance campaign.

As we seek to recruit a diverse and exceptionally talented student body, we want to make a college education affordable for every student who answers our call to a life of purpose. For many, the uncertainty of today’s economy means they could miss out on a CNU education, one that prepares young women and men to make a positive difference on campus, in the community and around the world.

You can help fulfill a young person’s dreams of becoming a CNU Captain.

Exceptional merit-based scholarships will ensure we adequately recognize the accomplishments of top students. At the same time, competitive need-based scholarships will help us retain students who demonstrate the ability to succeed at CNU but who otherwise lack the financial ability to do so.

“By giving back to the University, you may help create a scholarship that will make the dream of a prospective Captain come true.” — Marion Gloor, CNU senior

Establish a Scholarship

Your generosity has an immediate impact, helping students receive a superb classroom education along with exceptional opportunities in the fine and performing arts, athletics, groundbreaking research, and so much more.

Annual Scholarships

  • Established immediately
  • Award amount equal to the amount contributed by donors in the year of the award
  • $2,000 recommended annual contribution
  • Maintained annually through donor contributions

Endowed Scholarships

  • Established over a period of five years
  • Award amount calculated on the Education Foundation’s spend rate (currently 4 percent of the fund’s eight quarter rolling average)
  • $50,000 recommended minimum scholarship endowment to produce a $2,000 award
  • Maintained in perpetuity (the $50,000 endowment providing a principal base that generates interest to pay out an award indefinitely)

In addition the mini-endowment fund of $15,000 to $25,000 may be explored to fund books, travel and research (at a minimum award level of $600).

What difference does your financial support make? The following examples represent the benefits of various gift amounts:

  • Endowed full tuition and fees scholarship for four students – one per class ($2.5 million)
  • Endowed full tuition and fees scholarship for one student for four years ($750,000)
  • Endowed Leadership Scholars Program scholarship ($250,000)
  • Annual full tuition and fees scholarship for one student for four years ($100,000)
  • Endowed scholarship or fellowship ($50,000)
  • Annual leadership scholarship ($25,000)

Leave a Legacy Creating a named scholarship represents a personal way to leave a legacy while helping young women and men reach their academic goals. Remember — whether you establish a scholarship to honor a loved one or a cherished friend, you at the same time directly benefit deserving students.

“Not only are scholarships a critical source of financial assistance for students, but they are also a source of inspiration and motivation to achieve while at CNU.” — Katie Davis (’11)
