Assistant Director of Athletic Bands
Dr. Annie Stevens earned the Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance from Northwestern University where she served as drumline captain of the marching band. She earned the Master of Music degree in percussion performance from Rutgers University and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in percussion literature and performance from the Eastman School of Music. She studied also at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold, Germany. Dr.. Steven served as the assistant director of bands at the University of West Georgia. In 2009, she toured to four Chinese music conservatories performing chamber music with Eastman’s China Connection Ensemble and performed with the Eastman Percussion Ensemble at the Paris Conservatory for the international percussion festival, Perkumania. She has performed with the festival orchestras of the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, the National Orchestral Institute in College Park, Maryland, and the Aspen Music Festival. She performs extensively with many chamber groups engaged in commissioning new works and has performed several concerts with New York City’s Metropolis Ensemble, Musica Nova, and the Ossia New Music Ensemble. Her teachers include Michael Burritt (Eastman School of Music), Bill Cahn (Nexus, Eastman School of Music), Chip Ross (Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra), She-e Wu (Northwestern University), and Alan Abel (Philadelphia Orchestra). Dr. Stevens assists with the Marching Captains, directs the Percussion Ensemble, and teaches percussion techniques, percussion literature and pedagogy, music technology, and applied percussion at CNU.

Assistant Director of Athletic Bands
Dr. Joseph Falvey earned the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Eastern Michigan University, the Master of Music in horn performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in horn performance from the University of Miami. He has successful experience as a drill writer and instructor for numerous high schools and for the University of Miami, as a professional hornist with numerous orchestras in the United States and abroad, and as a member in the country’s top drum and bugle corps the Glassmen and the Blue Devils. Dr. Falvey teaches the Marching Captains, University Band, Pep Band, Marching Band Techniques, Brass Techniques, and Applied Horn at CNU.
