Christopher Newport Named a 2017 Best College Value by Kiplingers Personal Finance
CNU again named a Best College Value by Kiplingers Personal Finance.
Christopher Newport University has been named a 2017 “Best Value College” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. CNU was ranked in the top 300 colleges nationwide out of 1,200 evaluated, and in the top 100 public colleges in America for “embodying exceptional quality and affordability.”
“Kiplinger’s recognizes yet again that Christopher Newport University is one of the best colleges in America and one of the best values in public higher education,” says President Paul Trible. “Our university combines the benefits of a private university education that features a talented teaching-first faculty with a price only found at public universities.”
Kiplinger’s rankings weight measures of quality more highly than cost. Evaluated measures of quality include the admission rate, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and the four-year graduation rate. Evaluated cost measures include sticker price, financial aid and average debt at graduation. According to Kiplinger’s, their ranking is restricted solely to measurable standards of academic quality and affordability.
Kiplinger’s “Best College Value” recognition adds to an impressive list of rankings earned since the beginning of the 2016-17 academic year: U.S. News & World Report identified Christopher Newport as the 5th Best Public University in the South, and Princeton Review included Christopher Newport in its 381 Best Colleges, 2017 edition, recognizing the University for having the 15th Best Science Lab Facilities, second Best College Dorms, eighth Most Engaged in Community Service, and 16th in Best-Run Colleges.
