Spring 2019 Career Fair

Thinking about an internship, a job or graduate school? Make the connection at the Career Fair

Read time:

Lives will change for the better at Christopher Newport’s upcoming Career Fair. Students will meet future employers for the first time, find out about an internship they never knew existed or decide to advance their education in a way they’d never considered before. No matter when Captains will graduate, it’s an opportunity to polish resumes, practice handshakes and network. The Career Fair gives students, from freshmen to seniors, the tools they need to launch a career when they are ready for that life changing interaction.

This year’s Career Fair is Wednesday, January 30, from noon to 3 p.m., on the David Student Union second floor. More than 50 employers and at least 10 graduate schools are expected to send representatives.

Additionally, the Center for Career Planning is offering a full slate of workshops and other programs to help students prepare. Those ranging from a session on networking for introverts to interview preparations and walk-in resume reviews. Full details are available at cnu.joinhandshake.com

“You get jobs by talking to people and we want to give our students every possible advantage as they get ready for those conversations,” says Libby Westley, director of the Center for Career Planning. “This isn’t just for seniors. Every undergraduate should be thinking about lining up an internship or making initial contacts in their chosen career field. We can help with that but going to the Career Fair is a great way to start.”

Employers who have committed to participate include:

  • Newport News Shipbuilding
  • Solsys Medical
  • WVEC television

Graduate schools attending include:

In addition to the upcoming career fair spanning all degrees and majors at Christopher Newport, the University sponsors career networking opportunities focused on specific departments and schools.
