CNU Places in National Competition
(Newport News, Va.) - Dr. Lisa Spiller, marketing professor with Christopher Newport University and Dr. Carol Scovotti of the University of Wisconsin, received the 3rd place award in the 2009 national case competition of the Case Writers’ Workshop. The competition was conducted by the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation and the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing Educational Foundation. The award was presented at the annual Direct Marketing Research Summit Conference held October 17-18 in San Diego, California.
The case study was based on the marketing activities of Nonna’s Italian Restaurant in Newport News; specifically focusing on its promotions strategies. Dr. Spiller worked closely with Nonna’s owner, Ms. Anna Russo-Coggeshall, who is a CNU alumnus and a former student of Dr. Spiller's.
The annual case competition is co-sponsored by the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing Educational Foundation and the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation.
