xkcd Founder Randall Munroe to Speak at Ferguson Center

(Newport News, Va.) - Christopher Newport University alumnus, webcomic and xkcd founder Randall Munroe will speak at CNU’s Ferguson Center for the Arts on Wednesday, April 4 at 7 p.m. A Q&A session will follow. This free, ticketed event is open to the public. Tickets can be reserved at cnu.edu/pcs/xkcd. A maximum of six tickets are permitted per reservation.

In 2006, Munroe earned a degree in physics from CNU. Prior to launching his webcomic, xkcd, he was a NASA roboticist and programmer. A stick-figure comic, xkcd explores the themes of computer science, technology, mathematics, science, language, pop culture and romance. In addition to building a strong cult following, Munroe has earned mention in both The Guardian and The New York Times. In 2011, he was nominated for a Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist.
