Ferguson and CNU Announce Community Partnership
(Newport News, Va.) -
Ferguson and Christopher Newport University announced today that Ferguson will continue its longstanding commitment to CNU by donating $12 million over the next 30 years. This commitment will bolster the University’s community service programs through its Center for Community Engagement, provide scholarships to students and enhance cultural experiences for all at the Ferguson Center for the Arts.
Celebrating its 60th year in business, Ferguson has a history defined in large measure by civic commitment. “Since our founding in 1953, Ferguson has remained committed to being a good corporate citizen and we are honored to continue our partnership with CNU,” explained Ferguson CEO Frank Roach. “We have built and sustained a strong relationship for many years, and like CNU, we both believe strongly in developing our future leaders and in giving back to the communities we serve.”
“CNU is deeply grateful for our longstanding partnership with Ferguson that underscores our shared values and common goals of improving the civic, cultural and educational life of our community and commonwealth,” said President Paul Trible. “Ferguson’s commitment of $12 million will sustain the programming excellence and success of the Ferguson Center and will create two transformative opportunities for our students by supporting scholarships in the performing arts and service in our community.”
The agreement includes naming rights for the Ferguson Center for the Arts through 2042, the creation of Ferguson performing arts scholarships and support of CNU’s Center for Community Engagement, which develops and facilitates service opportunities for students, faculty and community partners, directly benefiting our neighbors in the Hampton Roads community and beyond.
