Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures to Host Award-Winning Author

(Newport News, Va.) - Del BuonoAward-winning international author Zora del Buono will read from her travel narrative Hundert Tage Amerika (America in 100 Days: Encounters between Newfoundland and Key West) at 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014, in McMurran 101.The event is free and open to the public. No reservation is required.

Del Buono was born in 1962 in Zürich. She studied architecture at the ETZ Zurich and the HdK Berlin. After graduation, she worked for several years as an architect in Berlin. In 1995 she decided to change professions and became co-founder of the highly acclaimed mare – magazine of the oceans. In 2008, her first novel Canitz' Verlangen was published, followed by Big Sue in 2010. In 2011 her travel book Hundert Tage Amerika was published, and won the 2012 ITB Book Award. Del Buono lives in Berlin.
