Robert Noyce Scholarship Program

The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program at Christopher Newport University aims to recruit and train STEM majors to be highly qualified teachers who persist in their profession and who are prepared for the challenges of teaching in high-need schools. Through the support of the National Science Foundation, we will award scholarships of $15,000 per academic year to students pursuing teaching certification in math or science. You can receive up to $30,000 to help fund your senior and graduate years.

Students will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in their chosen STEM field, a master of arts in teaching and Virginia state teaching licensure for secondary school in their respective discipline. As a Noyce Scholar, you will commit to teaching at a high-need school district for two years per year of funding received. Scholars must complete this commitment within six years of earning their math/science teacher certification.

Applications are due by February 15. For more information contact Dr. George Kuster at george.kuster@cnu.edu. We also encourage qualified transfer students to apply.
