Orientation

To prepare incoming Captains for life away at college, we’ve designed a comprehensive, two-part orientation program.

Setting Sail

Students attend Setting Sail in June, and begin the transition to campus life. You’ll bond with fellow Captains in a fun, hands-on experience that provides important information, including fall class schedules.

Families and guests play an active role during Setting Sail, attending informative sessions about campus life, financial aid and how to support their student academically.

In addition, students admitted to the President’s Leadership Program must attend Leadership Adventure. Students will attend either Session 1 or 3 of Setting Sail and remain on campus through Friday of that same week. Students are automatically registered for Leadership Adventure when they are designated as a member of the President’s Leadership Program and register for Setting Sail.

Setting Sail 2020 Dates
Session 1 June 15-16
Session 2 June 18-19
Session 3 June 22-23
Session 4 June 25-26
Leadership Adventure 2020 Dates
Session 1 June 16-19 (following Session 1 of Setting Sail)
Session 2 June 23-26 (following Session 3 of Setting Sail)

Welcome Week

You’ll return to campus in August for Welcome Week, part two of orientation. You’ll move into your residence hall and spend the week before classes adjusting to campus life. Special programs, speakers and workshops highlight academics, while a wide range of activities build a sense of community among peers.

Welcome Week is required for all first-year students, and you should plan to be available on campus for the entirety of the week. Please adjust any work or travel plans accordingly.

Welcome Week is August 16-22, 2020.
