Safe control and navigation of ground and aerial autonomous vehicles, control applications in robotics and high-precision mechatronic systems, model-free optimization, and wind and solar energy conversion systems.
Biography
Dr. Ghaffari's research tackles existing and emerging gaps in controls, robotics, and energy systems. As an instructor of record for control theory and electrical engineering courses, he has taught over 700 students across five institutions. His academic career includes postdoctoral appointments at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and the University of California, San Diego. Additionally, he brings six years of industry experience in control, automation, and instrumentation, focusing on combined cycle power plants and photolithography lasers.
