Teaching

Dr. McInnis has broad interests in all areas of German culture and language. In addition to beginning and intermediate courses, he has taught courses at CNU on German literature since 1945, a conversation course on globalization, business German, German literature to 1800, and composition/GDR.

Research

Dr. McInnis conducts research on literature and culture from the eighteenth century to the present. Current interests include the relationship of mind and body in eighteenth-century literature, philosophy, religion, and medicine and theories of memory in twenty- and twenty-first century literature.

Biography

Dr. McInnis grew up in Iowa and spent a year at the University of Regensburg before completing majors in History, Humanities, and German at the University of Northern Iowa. He received M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in German Literature from Vanderbilt University. He has studied at the Ruhr University in Bochum and conducted research in Wolfenbüttel, Halle, Gotha, Göttingen, Freiburg, Munich, and Berlin.
