Biography

Dr. Harwell's primary research interests lie at the intersection of marine biodiversity conservation and estuarine and coastal marine community ecology. Locally, her research group investigates the effects of anthropogenic alterations of the physical environment on benthic community structure. Additional applied conservation work focuses on extinction risk theory and the identification of key marine conservation priorities across regional, national, and international scales.
