Biography
Dr. Underwood joined the philosophy faculty of Christopher Newport in 1999. She has served as Director of the Presidential Scholars program since 2009; a role in which she works with students to help them develop a personalized program for post-graduate success and service. Dr. Underwood served as Dean of the College of Arts & Humanities for nine years and became Vice Provost in 2022. She is the author of numerous books and articles and her most recent scholarship focuses on cosmopolitanism, and the connections between female participation in government and societal stability.
