Mission Statement
The mission of the Christopher Newport University Police Department is to provide the University, including all faculty, staff, students and guests, with professional law enforcement services, in an efficient and effective manner, which fully supports the academic mission of the university.
Our primary goal is to ensure that all members of the University community are able to live, study, work and enjoy the full spectrum of experiences offered by the University. In order to achieve this goal, the University Police will make every effort to reduce the risk of crime to the lowest possible level. This goal will be achieved by employing twenty-four hour police patrols and security patrols of the campus grounds, the utilization of modern security technologies, the enforcement of federal and state laws and University policies, proven crime prevention methodologies, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and identified best practices, and community programming that enhances our relationship with those who live and work on the periphery of the main campus.
