Placement Credit

Certain coursework and exams can be applied toward degree requirements at Christopher Newport as shown below.

Advanced Placement (AP)

The tests and scores listed below may be applied toward degree requirements at Christopher Newport. This list is updated annually and is currently valid for fall 2017 applicants.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

Students who wish to have courses reviewed for college credit must submit an official IB transcript for evaluation. The subjects and scores listed below may be applied toward degree requirements at Christopher Newport. This list is updated annually and is currently valid for fall 2015 applicants.

University of Cambridge International Exams

Advanced standing credit is awarded for Cambridge examinations. The exams and grades listed below may be applied toward degree requirements at Christopher Newport. This list is updated annually and is currently valid for fall 2015 applicants.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

Through CLEP, students may earn college credit for knowledge acquired outside the classroom.

The Office of the Registrar processes CLEP scores for newly admitted students. Credit for qualifying CLEP scores is recorded on the student’s transcript as transfer credit. Only the credit and the course will appear on the student’s transcript.

You must submit a copy of the official CLEP score report from to the Office of the Registrar for evaluation.
