Conner Trebour

John AlbertoI believe that I am qualified for the position of President of the Student Assembly. Currently, I am the Vice President and I feel like have learned and grown in this position in the last year. I am confident with how the system of the Student Assembly works and where the potential for improvement is in the assembly. I currently work as the Assistant Event Coordinator for the university; I am also social chair and on the standards board for my fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. Through my work and other positions on campus, I’ve formed a very close relationship with the administration here at CNU. Overall student self governance is important for a successful student body and I believe that my close relationship with the faculty and fellow student leaders here on campus will help the student assembly increase their influence and improve life on campus in the next year.

Jordan Gray

Calvin StanfordI, Jordan M. Gray, would like to run for the office of the Vice President of the CNU Student Assembly. After serving as a delegate for Santoro Hall for the 2013-2014 year, I now see that the student assembly has real power to change campus life for the benefit of the students. Through this past year I have had the opportunity to meet with many people and see things changed like the adding of the Navigator app, changing of the sign-in times in the dorms, bettering of food variety and quality, and seeing ice machines installed in to the dorms. I have served on the academic committee this year, and have observed some procedures that most likely need to be reevaluated. Also, I have devoted much of my time actually meeting with students and discussing the university's policies and their wants or needs. I feel that with my experience this year that I will only thrive more in the office of the vice president. I want to be a voice of students who students know they can trust and have faith in to see changes made. If elected, I want my motto to be, "no reserve... no retreat... no regret...", because I do not want to hold back, I will never back down, and I want to leave each day knowing that students desires are being met. Therefore, please vote me, Jordan Gray as your 2014-2015 CNU Student Assembly Vice President. May God Bless you, Christopher Newport University, and these United States.

James Imoehl

Robert Grier I intend to run for the office of, Vice President of Student Assembly for several reasons. I am very involved on CNU’s campus in things such as Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Colleges Against Cancer. I am currently president of Colleges Against Cancer, which hosts many fundraisers for cancer research, most notably Relay for Life. As president of CAC I have an executive board and we are in charge of over 40 committee members and over 100 volunteers. This experience has improved my organizational skills, delegating skills, leadership methods, and communication skills. As a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity I have been well prepared for, running efficient meetings, communicating with others, executing plans for large organizations, and many other leadership skills. This involvement has also enabled me to meet and form relationships with many CNU students. These relationships enable me to gain a better understanding of what the students of CNU’s wants and needs from student assembly are. I have gained many of these skills during my time here at CNU and would like to use these skills to give back to the University by holding the office of, Vice President of Student Assembly. I intend to help make Student Assembly decisions and assist the Student Assembly President, in planning and executing his/her plans for the Assembly and University. I also intend to work closely with every member of Student Assembly to efficiently and effectively run student assembly while continuing to improve the CNU community.

Find out more about your candidates for Student Assembly Treasurer

Andrew Hall

Andrew Hall I am running for the position of Student Assembly Treasurer because I feel as though this is another way I can give back to the community that has given me so much. I came to CNU a nervous wreck, not knowing what to expect from college. My crew leader, my freshman RA, and the members of my current fraternity played a huge role in helping me find my feet in what seemed to be such an overwhelming experience. As I have grown through my amazing years on this campus I have strived to give back in these same ways in order to have the same, or a greater, impact on CNU students. I currently work as an RA in Warwick River Hall and have been blessed with an amazing group of residents. I recently have been accepted to be a Crew Leader for this upcoming summer and could not be more excited! Two of the biggest influences in my college career have come from the current treasurer and the treasurer before him. I have seen how this position has challenged them and built them to become better men. I have talked to each of them in order to better understand the requirements of this job and because of this, and also my courses as a business major, feel as though I am a qualified candidate for this position. I look forward to the opportunity to even run. Best wishes to the other candidates.

Brent Frost

Brent Frost

I am running for Student Assembly Secretary because I believe that I can be a positive force with relations for the Student Assembly on the executive board. This school year I have proudly served as a delegate and have had the honor to be the Academic Committee Chairman. I believe that I would ensure that the meetings of Student Assembly will be preserved, as well as affirm that ideas brought up in the meetings will not be forgotten and will be brought up again when relevant in future times. I shall keep a constant presence of Student Assembly on social media and have the student body of CNU fully aware of what Student Assembly is pursuing in its endeavors as well as advertise events that Student Assembly will be hosting. In order for this to happen more effectively for the 2014-2015 school year, social media accounts will have to be promoted to a greater extent. Lastly, I will do my part to encourage effective communication in the workings of Student Assembly and will approach the appropriate committee(s) when pursuing a goal. With effective communication it is important to listen from all sides of a discussion and take each sides words equally, it is in this way that the best decision can be made. With my attention to the details of the work that I do, as well as doing that work in a timely matter, I believe that I can be an effective Secretary for Student Assembly.

I am a junior at Christopher Newport University and have chosen to run for the position of Secretary of Student Assembly to make improvements on campus.  As a Fine Arts major I can offer a creative and unique perspective to this position.  Considering I am a rising fourth year student, I am familiar with CNU’s culture and regulations and therefore will be able to use my knowledge to influence my decisions as Secretary.  I am dedicated to becoming more involved through servant leadership and hope to ensure that students who have not previously had a voice in decisions will feel heard and influential in the Student Assembly.  I, along with many other students, have faced challenges in my academic career.  It is a challenging and daunting task to choose a stimulating major, pick the correct classes, and succeed in school academically.  I have been able to find and maintain that balance with my social life and would like to be given the opportunity to better the CNU experience for the student body as a whole.  As Secretary, I wish to learn more about the inner workings of the CNU community and hope to find innovative ways to make changes for the better.  If selected, I would render you with my best services and would accomplish all tasks assigned to me in a timely manner.  Thank you for your consideration for the position of Secretary of Student Assembly.

I’m running for Student Assembly for a variety of reasons. Firstly, I want to be able to give back to the university that has done so much for me. CNU has given me the opportunity to grow in ways, both personally and professionally, that I never expected. By serving on Student Assembly, I would focus on creating the most opportunities possible for our student body, in the hopes of enhancing their overall CNU experience. Secondly, I want to continue to strengthen the relationship between the student body and the CNU administration. The stronger the relationship between the administration and the student, the more our voice will be heard. Finally, I want to be able to improve the CNU community as a whole. CNU is a wonderful and unique campus. Although, CNU is an amazing place, we do have our weaknesses. Serving on student assembly will allow me to work on turning these weaknesses into strengths, thus improving the overall student experience.
