Health, Medical and Wellness Studies, minor

This minor offers students the ability to choose from a wide range of classes covering all aspects of health, medicine, and wellness. Therefore, students in this program will learn about of physical, mental, and social well-being. The minor is appropriate for students who are seeking to work in the health and medical field, or for those who just want to learn how to improve their own health and wellness. Students will learn to be more empowered patients and better consumers of healthcare, improve their health literacy skills, and will be well-prepared to interact with all aspects of the healthcare industry, both personally and professionally.

Careers

  • Provide private one-on-one services surrounding health and wellness to clients and communities.

  • Create digital content to educate people about health and wellness using blogs, articles, websites, videos, etc.
  • Write for newspapers or television on the topic of health and wellness.

  • Work one-on-one with patients as a care-giver in a hospital, nursing facility, or public clinic.

  • Inform people in the community about health and wellness rights and concerns.
  • Create material to educate people on health and wellness.

  • Work with companies to evaluate the state of the health and wellness of employees and how it can be improved.

  • Assist individuals with disease or illness learn about and navigate the medical sector and help them cope with their health issues.

  • Coordinate a business or department focused on health and wellness within a larger business or agency.

  • Listen to and take notes for doctors and nurses through the use of recordings.
  • Edit and review medical documents.

  • Provide one-on-one care for and monitor the conditions of people with chronic conditions or disabilities who are unable to manage their daily activities.
