Department of Fine Art and Art History

New Students

We encourage freshman applicants to apply for scholarships electronically through SlideRoom. You will be prompted within your Common Application to submit a portfolio through SlideRoom after indicating your intention to study studio art or art history. There is an extra $10 SlideRoom portfolio submission fee, in addition to the general $65 application fee.

Please submit up to 10 images of your artwork that represent both your skill and concept development. Portfolios will be reviewed electronically on a rolling basis. If you are registered for one of our Open Houses* you will be given priority for a personal portfolio review with a member of our studio faculty. After you register for Open House, click below to sign up for your portfolio review.

Portfolio Review

In addition to artwork, art history applicants may forward original research for scholarship consideration. You can forward a Word file or PDF to Department Chair Christi Harris at

*Open House dates are October 19, 2019; February 1, 2020 and March 14, 2020.
