For Visitors

Christopher Newport’s facilities, including grounds and buildings, are open only for official university business and are not open to visitors or the general public. Rare exceptions for compelling reasons to these visitation limits may only be granted by the appropriate vice president or the provost.

Campus Operations: November 20, 2020 - January 4, 2021

  • November 20 – Last day of on campus classes
  • November 23 – Classes conducted remotely for those classes scheduled to have met on 11/3
  • November 24-29 – Thanksgiving break
  • November 30 – Classes resume online
  • December 11 – Classes end
  • December 12, 13 – Reading Days
  • December 14-19 – Exams conducted remotely
  • December 23 – Final grades due at noon
  • December 21 through January 3, 2021 – winter break (university closed)
  • January 4, 2021 – University reopens
  • January 11, 2021 – Spring semester begins

  • Closed November 19-28
  • Maintain current hours beginning November 29 through December 19, 2020 (Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Sunday 1-10 p.m.). Hours may be reduced based on use.
  • Entry is by card access only
  • January 4-8, 2021: M-F, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday, January 9 - closed
  • Semester hours resume Sunday, January 10, 2021

The Pavilion will be closed November 21-29. Building hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday from November 30-December 19 and access is by appointment only. The facility will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

From November 21-December 19 and January 4-10, 2021, the David Student Union will be open Monday-Saturday 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. and closed Sundays. The Captains Locker will be closed.

Specific Visitor Information

We now offer in-person campus tours by prior appointment.

Visits to campus should be restricted to matters of extraordinary need and on a limited basis for all family members (including minor children) of faculty, staff and students.

In-room guests from off campus or other residence halls are prohibited. See the Residence Life Handbook for further information.

Suppliers of goods and services and regulatory agencies performing inspections are considered members of the Christopher Newport community and are not visitors.
