In addition, our alumni participation rate is vital. The percentage of alumni who give back to Christopher Newport is used in a number of ways, such as helping to determine grant awards and national collegiate rankings, among others.

Wright Cup - Young Alumni Competition
The Wright Cup, named after Christopher Newport's first graduate, Dr. Lois Wright '62, is an award given to the young alumni class with the most participation in a fiscal year. Created in 2019, the Wright Cup competition encourages our most recent graduates to give back to the university in a meaningful way while engaging in a friendly rivalry. Many have just begun their careers and families, but still find it in their hearts to participate in philanthropic giving.
