Student Life
Twice a year, Christopher Newport hosts a career and graduate school fair. This is when lots of companies, colleges and universities come to campus and introduce themselves to the students. It’s a great learning experience, but it also helps you develop connections early on.
There are a lot of jobs out in the world, and at the career fair, you can see tons of them right in front you. The career fair is a conversational, but also professional environment (we dress in business attire). These companies are offering real internships and positions, and they want Christopher Newport students to apply. As opposed to reading about an opportunity online, you can talk with a representative in real time about the position up for grabs. All Christopher Newport students are welcome, so it doesn’t matter if you’re a freshman or a senior!
This is just one of the many examples of how Christopher Newport ensures we are prepared for the future. A degree gives you the credentials, but without experience, one may find it challenging to find a job after college. In addition, the Center for Career Planning works year round to aid students in finding jobs and internships.
