A 7 a.m. departure from the Yoder Barn begins your "NYC Holiday Spectacular Tour" to New York City. A boxed breakfast will be served on board the motorcoach as travel takes you north to the Big Apple.

Stops will be made today and throughout the tour for the necessary rest, meal and comfort breaks. Lunch midday is on your own.

An afternoon arrival and check-in is planned at the Novotel New York, located in the heart of Times Square. This allows plenty of time to enjoy dinner on your own and to make a “curtain call” for those who may have made reservations on their own. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the city, beautifully decorated for the holiday season.

Meals provided: lunch and dinner

Breakfast this morning is on your own and is followed by free time to walk down to the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, visit shops in the area, etc. until time to board your motorcoach for a ride to the Chelsea Pier where you will board the BATEAUX for a Luxurious Sightseeing Luncheon Cruise. The European-inspired, glass enclosed dining vessel offers a sophisticated way to enjoy a panoramic view of the New York City skyline, while sailing on the Hudson and East Rivers. The highlight of your river cruise, beyond the spectacular views, has to be the delicious three-course plated lunch. Your delicious meal is accompanied by a narrator and live pianist. At the conclusion of your tour, your coach returns to the hotel making drop-offs at Macy’s on 34th Street, Bryant Park on 42nd Street and Times Square.

Dinner this evening will be a buffet style meal at the Marriott Marquis Crossroads Restaurant. This meal includes a variety of salads, entrees, vegetables and delicious desserts. Time to enjoy the hotel and the gift shop before walking next door to the Imperial Theater for the musical Ain’t Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations. Follow the journey of the legendary Temptations as they rise to stardom from the streets of Detroit. Their signature dance moves and unmistakable harmonies created the backdrop for their 42 Top Ten Hits, 14 of which made it to number one on the charts. A few of your favorites would have been: My Girl, Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone, Ain’t Too Proud to Beg, Just My Imagination, Since I Lost My Baby, The Way You Do the Things You Do, I Can’t Get Next to You, Cloud Nine and You’re My Everything. This show is selling out night after night.

Breakfast is on your own and followed by departure on your coach for a full day of touring. “New York City - Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow . . . An unforgettable Journey!” The city comes alive with a tour guide who has lived and breathed Manhattan during his time as a producer of the famous Radio City Rockettes. Today he hosts an incredible “New York Experience” as only he can deliver. Your experience includes major points of interest such as Fashion Avenue, Herald Square, Flatiron District, Greenwich Village and SoHo. You’ll also tour the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. A National Historic Site, the museum’s two historical tenement buildings were home to an estimated 15,000 people from over 20 nations between 1863 and 2011. Explore the identity, architecture and true stories of ordinary families who lived in these iconic buildings.

Lunch is included midday at a popular local restaurant. Your afternoon features Chinatown, Trinity Church, Battery Park, the Oculus and the city’s newest monumental attraction: the vessel, the shed and the shops at Hudson Yards. (Tour length is 6 hours.)

Enjoy a southern Italian family feast at Carmine’s. The restaurant is known for their hearty portions of many of your favorite Italian dishes. Each item is meant to be shared around the table.

Time to relax and enjoy a tasty meal prior to an evening at the Shubert Theater, which is just steps away from your restaurant. The 2018 play To Kill a Mockingbird is based on the 1960 novel by Harper Lee. It is inspired by Lee's own childhood in Alabama, and features one of literature's towering symbols of integrity and righteousness in the character of Atticus Finch, based on Lee's own father.

Breakfast on your own is followed by a morning performance of the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. The Rockettes have been lighting up the stage for decades, and now you join the hundreds of thousands before you and find the real meaning of Christmas. Ninety minutes of exceptional singing, dancing and the story of the first Christmas. We have fantastic orchestra seating for you.

A stop will be made for lunch at a popular New Jersey diner on your journey home. Cost is on your own. There is a great bakery to purchase goodies for those not lucky enough to have taken this fantastic holiday tour to New York City. Estimated time of return to Newport News is 10 p.m.
