Dr. Kathryn Cole, assistant professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Chemistry, was recently awarded funding from the Commonwealth Health Research Board for her research on anticancer drug design. Her work in structural biology is part of a collaborative effort that also includes synthetic organic, biological and computational studies.

"Structural biology allows us to elucidate specific binding interactions between the inhibitor and enzyme target," says Cole. "This will allow us to design and develop more potent, second generation inhibitors."

Cole teaches general chemistry, biochemistry and a chemistry writing course. She earned her PhD from Yale University.
