The following is a statement released September 17, 2024, by the Task Force studying decisions concerning the location and growth of the University:
“The Task Force continues its work under the charge given to us by Mayor Jones and President Kelly. We are currently primarily focused on: 1.) documenting all of the properties that once existed on the land that currently makes up the main campus of Christopher Newport, bordered by Shoe Lane, Moores Lane, Prince Drew Road, Warwick Boulevard, and including Merritt Road, and 2.) as we are able, meeting with the families currently living in that area of land and families who formerly lived in that area of land. We continue our work, and will report on our progress as it is made.”
