Dr. Underwood joined the faculty of Christopher Newport in 1999. She has served as Director of the Presidential Scholars program since 2009; a role in which she works with students to help them develop a personalized program for post-graduate success and service. Dr. Underwood became Dean of the College of Arts & Humanities in May, 2013. She is the author of numerous books and articles and her most recent scholarship focuses on cosmopolitanism, religious identity and terrorism.
