Overview

From start to finish, the planning process will take all of academic year 2023-2024 and is overseen by the Strategic Planning Steering Committee. Everyone who lives and works on campus and many people from the Newport News community will participate. Please view the timeline to dive deeper into the process overview.

Timeline Overview

July 2023: Scope and objectives of the Strategic Compass are announced
September 2023: Work plan finalized and teams to begin research are formed
October 2023: Town Hall listening session is convened with focus on shaping CNU’s future
November 2023: Ideas sought from members of campus community
December 2023 - June 2024: Major objectives identified, mission, vision and values are reconsidered, Compass is drafted and submitted to the President and ultimately the Board of Visitors for review and approval
