Captains Commitment - Christopher Newport University

Tuition

Captains Commitment

The Board of Visitors has approved a tuition freeze in addition to the previously adopted guaranteed tuition and fee program, the Captains Commitment. State support for higher education has increased so that CNU can offer all incoming and returning students a one-year tuition freeze. The incoming Class of 2019 will pay the same tuition as the 2018 freshmen.

Due to the Captains Commitment, students also know with rock solid certainty the maximum tuition and comprehensive fee increases they will be asked to pay in their sophomore (5.5%), junior (1%) and senior (1%) years. The one-year freeze means the four-year cost of a CNU education for the 2019 freshmen will be reduced by $1,300.

Christopher Newport is the first school in Virginia to include the comprehensive fee in the guaranteed plan.
