Frequently Asked Questions

Christopher Newport accepts applications through either the Common Application or the Coalition Application.

We have three application deadlines. Early Decision is a binding decision with a November 15 deadline. The non-binding Early Action deadline is December 1 and our Regular Decision deadline is February 1.

We have no preference between the SAT and ACT. If students take both tests, we will use the higher scores in our review.

An interview is a great way to enhance your application for admission and get a personalized introduction to Christopher Newport. Interviews are not required for admission but are required for consideration for our President's Leadership Program and Honors Program. Students can schedule an interview online.

Early Decision applicants can receive notification on December 15. The Early Action notification date is January 15 and Regular Decision applicants are notified on March 15. All notifications sent via the mail.

We have two merit-based scholarship programs available for our incoming freshman — the President’s Leadership Program and the Honors Program. Students apply to the programs through the online admission application and must complete an interview with a member of our admission staff.
