Christopher Newport has a vibrant and growing fraternity and sorority community that enriches campus life. We have 18 recognized fraternities and sororities that are active participants in either the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the Panhellenic Council, or the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC).
These organizations have created a foundation of brotherhood/sisterhood, scholarship, community service/philanthropy and character on campus.
Students in Greek Life are among the most selfless and successful, and many hold leadership positions on campus:
- The all-Greek grade point average is consistently higher than the the campus GPA.
- Fraternity and sorority members put in more than 15,000 hours of service in our local community annually.
- Chapters continually raise more than $50,000 annually for philanthropic organizations.
- The Student Assembly president, executive vice president, VP of finance, the Class or 2016 president, Class of 2017 president, Student Diversity and Equality Council president, and many others, are fraternity or sorority members.
Each fraternity and sorority is unique, and all offer members a connection with fellow students and alumni through relationships that continue long after college.
