Department of Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology

Sociology

Sociology is the evidence-based study of social influences on group behavior and outcomes. Studying at CNU provides a unique opportunity to study this topic in a highly interdisciplinary department. Students have the opportunity to examine social hierarchies, change and conflict through the lenses of sociology, criminology, anthropology, and geography in a single program. Our emphasis on methods allows students to develop important skills in the collection and application of evidence in understanding human behavior. The unique social and geographical location of CNU allows for the opportunity to examine firsthand how social differences, similarities, policies and practices produce remarkably patterned but often misunderstood outcomes.
