At Christopher Newport University, we are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all students, faculty and staff. “Hazing” means any activity by which a person is expected to join or participate in a group that humiliates, degrades, abuses or endangers them regardless of a person’s willingness to participate. It is the responsibility of all members of the university community to support and encourage an atmosphere of learning, social responsibility, and mutual respect, where members do not intentionally or recklessly cause harm, or risk causing harm, to one another. To assist with this, we offer in-person hazing prevention training for all potential, new and current members of student organizations.
