Robert Noyce Scholarship Program

About the Program

The Noyce Scholarship Program is available to Christopher Newport undergraduates and master of arts in teaching (MAT) graduate students who will earn teaching certification in science or mathematics. You must be a science or mathematics major (undergraduates) or have earned a bachelor's degree in science or math (graduates).

The scholarship includes the following:

  • Financial support for $15,000 per academic year
  • A four-week paid summer internship working in an innovative STEM academy
  • Professional support which may include funding for travel to conferences

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Noyce Program, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident alien
  • Be interested in a career in teaching
  • Be (or become) a STEM major and enter the MAT program
  • Agree to teach in a high-need school district after graduation

Conditions

  • Acceptance into CNU's MAT program
  • A 1-credit seminar each semester of their graduate year
  • A 1-credit field experience course
  • Two years of teaching in a high need school for each year of scholarship funding
  • Stay in contact with the CNU Noyce project team and Office of Teacher Preparation after graduation
