The President’s Parent Council helps advance the Christopher Newport University experience through giving programs and active engagement with the campus community. You can find out more information by visiting the Why Join page.
What does my gift support?
You can direct your gift to any specific area at the university that interests you (e.g., scholarships, athletics, the arts, or any other areas that mean the most to you). You can also make an unrestricted gift, which the university can use for the area of greatest need.
But, Doesn’t Tuition Cover All That?
No. Tuition alone does not cover all the needs of the university. Your President’s Parent Council gift helps to fund many programs or areas that will directly enrich the lives of our students.
Being members of the President’s Parent Council has been a wonderful experience and fun way for us to continue to be involved with our children’s school experiences by contributing directly to the departments that interested them the most. We have enjoyed benefitting multiple University programs, getting to know the CNU leadership team, and connecting with other parents who are on the same journey to becoming “Captain Parents for Life.”

We are pleased to highlight our deepest appreciation for the comprehensive education Markos received as a student at CNU. The instruction and insight he attained from his professors and the extent of collegiality amongst his peers was incredible. Despite the challenges the pandemic caused, this close-knit community remained connected and resilient. We are proud of our son Markos, who is now a two-time graduate from this remarkable institution and poised to have an outstanding career in the financial services industry, thanks to the Luter School of Business.

The CNU President’s Parent Council provides an opportunity to understand the short-and long-term objectives of CNU and to get to know the CNU faculty and staff on a personal level. It offers insight to existing and proposed programs designed to support the CNU community and the possibility to become involved in these programs on a large or small scale. The connections made with the faculty and staff facilitate communication and provide a forum to convey concerns, express new ideas, and participate in providing additional opportunities to the students (i.e., internships, full-time positions). A bonus of membership are the connections made with the other CNU parents. It is a great chance to hear their experiences and the advice they offer. The smaller gatherings in the students’ hometowns continue to foster these friendships and provide a stronger sense of camaraderie.
