Widowed in '96, set career goal of teaching college English; '01 Summa cum laude CNU graduate; earned teaching assistantship & Masters at ODU; won dept. & university outstanding TA awards; as a single mother, needed to begin teaching immediately, rather than furthering formal education. Hired as an instructor at CNU, beginning in fall 2003 semester.
