I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at Christopher Newport University. I earned my Ph.D. in Economics from Virginia Tech in 2026. I hold a B.Sc. in Economics from Lady Brabourne College, University of Calcutta, and an M.A. in Economics from Jadavpur University, both in India, as well as an M.A. in Economics from Virginia Tech. Before joining Christopher Newport University, I taught several undergraduate economics courses at Virginia Tech and worked on research projects in Bangladesh and Uganda. I have also collaborated on research with organizations including the World Food Programme, USAID, and the World Bank. I currently serve as Secretary-Treasurer of the South Asia Section of the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association.
Teaching
My teaching interests include introductory and intermediate microeconomics, macroeconomics, development economics, and agricultural economics. I am particularly interested in active learning and connecting economic theory to real-world issues.
Research
My research interests lie at the intersection of applied microeconomics, development, agricultural, and behavioral economics. I am particularly interested in technology adoption, information and knowledge interventions, and economic decision-making in low-income settings.
